“Different From Your Last But Still Actual Nice”

As has been noticed that this album is quite different in their previous stuff. It is more created, less ruckus, more country-western compared to new-timey chain band. But it’s NOTHING like pop-country, which Ive never enjoyed. That is REAL music expressing actual and strong emotions, a real ballad of our time, particularly for young folks from the southern Appalachian region. The songs on love state the negative side… being ripped off from the woman you desire, murder and cheating… good stuff. There is a song about the death of MLK Jr.. I spose it sorta hinges around the way his death may have been symbolic of the death of a movement. Im fairly sure these guys are all about social change. They have another song about the damaging force of meth, which I watched myself in south-central Kentucky. But its not all sad, youre sure to have a humdinger for this one.

“ What If They Used Drums In This Album? ”

Okay, so what if they used drums on the tracks in this album? Who cares if they sound more modern? The simple fact remains they have the song writing talent which allows them to sound original regardless of what tool is there or not – and I am rating this record a whole 5 because they rocked the house once more. Song for song, Big Iron World remains their best album but that doesnt mean you should sell this one short. 13 tracks and the majority of them are unforgettable. My personal favorites are Alabama High Test, and the cut of a crime that happened in a Motel in Memphis.

    “Love The Old Crows”

I first heard their Next Go Round on Garrison Keillors show and looked it up on the world wide web, where I had been permitted to both see and listen to it for around a year. So I purchased it for this 1 song and have enjoyed the other people on the CD. Folk music was the very first music genre I heard growing up in the 40s and 50s. My sister and I played guitars and sang, and especially loved sad, melancholy tunes. Ill have to see the Crows in person, because the 1 tune Ive watched frequently was amazing to see, and I miss it.

    “Ocmss Third Album”

Tennessee Pusher is the third record from Old Crow Medicine Show. I have to admit at first hearing of this album I felt somewhat disappointed by it. The sound and style of Old Crow Medicine Show is much different from their first two records, O.C.M.S. and Big Iron World I had come to now and love so well. However, as I kept enjoying the record more and more it has grown on me to the point I really like the record now. The sound and feel of the music is a little bit different from their first two albums. Certainly their sound is evolving that is exactly what any good artist needs to do in their career. However, to me it still felt the same. Don Was is the manufacturer of this record for OCMS. He brings a polish and structure to the records. Still you can think that sound and style that Old Crow Medicine Show exhibited in their very first two albums. Bob Dylan is one of the greats that the Don Was has worked with previously and there are points in this record as OCMS sing that really Dylanesque. I’ve heard and read comments from fans of Old Crow and many are disappointed by Tennessee Pusher. They dont like the new sound or record. If I’d written a review of the when I first got the album I would most likely have given it 2 stars at best. However, as this album grows and grows on me with each listening I give it the full five stars. To those who might be let down with the new sound of Old Crow I say take a while to listen to Tennessee Pusher having an open mind. You will find as I’d that the Old Crow Medicine Show remains the group we’ve come to know and love just introducing another facet to their talent and developing as musicians. I may have felt frustrated initially about this record but I’m far from disappointed now and I dont think you will be dissapointed but it either.
